Face aux rumeurs persistantes faisant \u00e9tat d\u2019une pr\u00e9tendue scission au sein de l\u2019Union nationale des anciens footballeurs du Mali (UNAFOM), les responsables de l\u2019association ont tenu une conf\u00e9rence de presse, le 25 janvier 2026, \u00e0 l\u2019h\u00f4tel Millenium de Bamako. La rencontre \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sid\u00e9e par le pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019Union, Cheick Fantamady Diallo, entour\u00e9 de plusieurs membres de l\u2019organisation.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

D\u2019entr\u00e9e de jeu, le pr\u00e9sident de l\u2019UNAFOM a tenu \u00e0 lever toute \u00e9quivoque. \u00ab Il n\u2019existe qu\u2019une seule Union nationale des anciens footballeurs du Mali \u00bb, a-t-il affirm\u00e9, rejetant fermement toute id\u00e9e de duplication ou de cr\u00e9ation parall\u00e8le de l\u2019association. Selon lui, l\u2019UNAFOM demeure une structure unique, l\u00e9galement constitu\u00e9e, qui ne saurait \u00eatre confisqu\u00e9e par une g\u00e9n\u00e9ration ou un groupe d\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eats. Il a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 que toute initiative visant \u00e0 cr\u00e9er une autre organisation ne peut, en aucun cas, se r\u00e9clamer de l\u2019UNAFOM sans respecter les proc\u00e9dures statutaires et l\u00e9gales en vigueur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dans un ton empreint de franchise, Cheick Fantamady Diallo a n\u00e9anmoins reconnu l\u2019existence de difficult\u00e9s de compr\u00e9hension internes, soulignant qu\u2019elles ne sont pas propres \u00e0 l\u2019UNAFOM. \u00ab Comme dans pratiquement toutes les associations, nous faisons face \u00e0 des probl\u00e8mes de compr\u00e9hension \u00bb, a-t-il admis, mettant en cause notamment les d\u00e9fis li\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019interp\u00e9n\u00e9tration g\u00e9n\u00e9rationnelle. Pour lui, ces divergences ne doivent cependant pas remettre en cause l\u2019unit\u00e9 et la vocation f\u00e9d\u00e9ratrice de l\u2019Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revenant sur l\u2019historique de l\u2019UNAFOM, le pr\u00e9sident a rappel\u00e9 que l\u2019association a \u00e9t\u00e9 fond\u00e9e par les anciens footballeurs de l\u2019apr\u00e8s-ind\u00e9pendance, avec pour objectif principal de renforcer la solidarit\u00e9 sociale entre anciens joueurs. \u00c0 l\u2019origine, les textes pr\u00e9voyaient un nombre limit\u00e9 de mandats \u00e0 la t\u00eate de l\u2019organisation. Une relecture des statuts a par la suite conduit \u00e0 une r\u00e9forme fixant la dur\u00e9e des mandats \u00e0 quatre ans, un changement intervenu dans un contexte marqu\u00e9 par l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de Moctar Sow \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sidence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cette p\u00e9riode a \u00e9t\u00e9 marqu\u00e9e par un long contentieux judiciaire, engag\u00e9 par l\u2019ancien pr\u00e9sident, qui s\u2019est \u00e9tal\u00e9 sur pr\u00e8s de trois ann\u00e9es. Une situation qui, selon les conf\u00e9renciers, a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 fragiliser le climat interne et \u00e0 alimenter les rumeurs de division au sein de l\u2019Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En conclusion, Cheick Fantamady Diallo a lanc\u00e9 un appel appuy\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019apaisement et au d\u00e9passement des clivages. Il a invit\u00e9 l\u2019ensemble des anciens footballeurs maliens, toutes g\u00e9n\u00e9rations confondues, \u00e0 rejoindre \u00ab la maison m\u00e8re \u00bb qu\u2019est l\u2019UNAFOM. Pour les responsables de l\u2019Union, l\u2019heure est \u00e0 la coh\u00e9sion et au respect des textes, afin de pr\u00e9server cet espace unique de rassemblement, de m\u00e9moire et de solidarit\u00e9 au service de l\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat sup\u00e9rieur du football malien.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
