L’organisation non gouvernementale Human Rights Watch (HRW) a r\u00e9agi \u00e0 la condamnation du journaliste malien Chahana Takiou, prononc\u00e9e le 3 ao\u00fbt 2026 par le Tribunal du P\u00f4le national de lutte contre la cybercriminalit\u00e9 de Bamako. Dans un communiqu\u00e9 publi\u00e9 le 5 ao\u00fbt, l’organisation estime que cette d\u00e9cision soul\u00e8ve des pr\u00e9occupations en mati\u00e8re de libert\u00e9 d’expression et de libert\u00e9 de la presse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

R\u00e9dacteur en chef de l’hebdomadaire 22 Septembre, Chahana Takiou a \u00e9t\u00e9 reconnu coupable d’\u00ab atteinte au cr\u00e9dit de l’\u00c9tat \u00e0 travers l’institution judiciaire \u00bb et condamn\u00e9 \u00e0 une peine d’un an d’emprisonnement. Son arrestation remonte au 8 juin 2026, apr\u00e8s des d\u00e9clarations publiques dans lesquelles il critiquait le recours \u00e0 la loi sur la cybercriminalit\u00e9 dans le traitement judiciaire d’un autre journaliste.
Dans sa d\u00e9claration, Human Rights Watch consid\u00e8re que cette affaire s’inscrit dans un contexte plus large concernant les poursuites engag\u00e9es contre des journalistes et d’autres acteurs de la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 civile au Mali. L’organisation cite \u00e9galement le cas d’Abdramane Ke\u00efta, directeur de publication du journal Le T\u00e9moin, plac\u00e9 en d\u00e9tention provisoire et poursuivi pour \u00ab d\u00e9lit \u00e0 caract\u00e8re r\u00e9gionaliste tendant \u00e0 porter atteinte \u00e0 l’unit\u00e9 nationale et au cr\u00e9dit de l’\u00c9tat \u00bb. Son proc\u00e8s est pr\u00e9vu le 17 ao\u00fbt 2026.
L’organisation appelle les autorit\u00e9s maliennes \u00e0 annuler la condamnation de Chahana Takiou, \u00e0 le remettre en libert\u00e9 et \u00e0 abandonner les poursuites qu’elle estime li\u00e9es \u00e0 l’exercice pacifique de la libert\u00e9 d’expression. Elle invite \u00e9galement les autorit\u00e9s \u00e0 revoir l’application de la l\u00e9gislation sur la cybercriminalit\u00e9 dans les affaires impliquant des journalistes.
Cette prise de position s’inscrit dans les interventions r\u00e9guli\u00e8res de Human Rights Watch sur les questions relatives aux droits humains, \u00e0 la libert\u00e9 de la presse et \u00e0 la protection des journalistes dans plusieurs pays, dont le Mali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
